Monte Picks Up Two More In Arkansas

1

Bill Cate of Media Services Group fills us in on Monte Spearman’s latest deal. Spearman owns High Plains Radio Network and he’s adding two more Arkansas signals to his growing portfolio of small-market stations. Arkansas broadcasters Jim and Nancy Howe are selling the stations for $475,000. These are the only two stations they owned.

High Plains is acquiring two of the oldest stations in Arkansas, KFFA-AM and KFFA-FM in Helena. KFFA-AM went on the air in 1941, and was one of the first stations in the country west of the Mississippi River. This Arkansas Delta operation, on the banks of the Mississippi River, is home to the original King Biscuit Flour Blues show, which has featured many of the nation’s top blues performers and still runs daily on KFFA.

Spearman has 10 stations in Plainview and Lubbock, TX, five stations in Altus, Oklahoma, and three FM stations in Mt. Home, Arkansas. These two Helena acquisitions will now round out an even 20 stations for Spearman’s HPRN.
