Tuesday was a big day fot WTOP as it was honored in seven out of eight categories at the DC Society of Professional Journalists Dateline Awards. The staff were recognized for their coverage of the Metro smoke incident (Breaking News category) and the visit of Pope Francis (Non-Breaking News category). The individual winners were Jamie Forzato (for a story on the nationwide heroin epidemic), Noah Frank (for sports reporting), Andrew Mollenbeck (for a one-on-one with broadcasting legend Vin Scully), Chris Core (for commentary on the day’s top stories), and Paula Wolfson (for her coverage of the health beat).
