WJR-AM/News Talk 760 in Detroit took the top prize as Station of the Year from The Michigan Association of Broadcasters. WJR was also honored by MAB with 14 Best in Category and nine Merit Awards for its talk talent, its news, sports, and marketing departments, its community involvement and public affairs excellence, and for its new-media and commercial production. The Broadcast Excellence Awards were presented by MAB at the annual Great Lakes Broadcasting Conference held last Tuesday, May 3, at the Lansing Center in Lansing, MI.
Mike Wheeler, Program Director of WJR, Detroit, said: “We are honored to have WJR selected as Michigan’s Station of the Year. And we’re blown away that the MAB recognized all of our talk talent, plus our news, sports, and marketing departments, our community involvement, public affairs, new media and our commercial production efforts. WJR has the most talented staff in Michigan, and to have the MAB recognize that is special.”
