After being pushed down to number two by iHeartMedia's KISS-FM in Los Angeles in 2014, Hubbard's all-news WTOP in Washington D.C. has recaptured the title of top billing radio station in America. Hubbard's all-news outlet in Washington DC took in $65 million in 2015, beating iHeart's KISS-FM by $300,000.

We asked the folks at BIA/Kelsey if they would gig deep into their archives to find one of their first Top Billing Radio station lists. It was from 1996 when CBS Sports Talker WFAN lead the field with $45.2 million in revenue. WGN in Chicago was next with $35.8 million. KGO in San Francisco was 3rd at $33 million, followed by WINS in New York at $31.6 million and KRTH in L.A. at $31 million. Here's a look at the top ten from BIA/Kelsey from 1996.

(2015) iHeart Owns Majority Of Top Ten Billers

Five of the top 10 stations on BIA/Kelsey's highest billers of 2015 come from iHeartMedia's New York and Los Angeles clusters, totaling $234.9 million. CBS owns four of the top 10 billers, making up another $175.3 million in revenue. Three CBS stations come from New York City, the other from Chicago. Four of the top 10 stations were from the AM dial. Here's a chart of all 10 of the 2015 top billing radio stations in the country.

(2014) KIIS-FM Topples WTOP As Top Biller

With $65.9 million in revenue in 2014, iHeartMedia’s Los Angeles CHR KIIS-FM is the new number-one billing radio station in America, according to BIA/Kelsey. Hubbard's WTOP, which held the top spot for the previous four years, dropped to number two, taking in approximately $63.5 million -- the same amount that helped the all-news station take the top spot in 2013.

(2010) WTOP Takes Over As Top Billing Station

Hubbard's WTOP-FM, the all news station in Washington, D.C., was the highest billing station in 2010. BIA/Kelsey estimates the station billed more than $57 million. KIIS (FM), a CHR station in Los Angeles, was second with $54 million. No other station billed more than $50 million in 2010. WCBS-AM in New York was third with $49 million, KFI in L.A. was 4th with $46 million and WLTW in New York was 5th at $44,300.

(2013) WTOP is Radio’s Top Biller

Hubbard's all-news WTOP in Washington, D.C. was the top-billing radio station in 2013, according to BIA/Kelsey. Excluding digital revenue, WTOP took in $63.5 million in 2013, $1.1 million less than 2012, but still enough to beat out the second-highest biller, Clear Channel's KIIS-FM in Los Angeles ($61.6 million). KIIS-FM had a very nice 2013, adding $4.8 million in billing over 2012.

Hubbard Radio News WTOP-FM/Washington, D.C. came in at #1 with $64 million. At #2 was Clear Channel CHR KIIS/Los Angeles, with $57 million, followed by Clear Channel's News/Talk KFI-AM/Los Angeles with $48,100. CBS' News WBBM-AM/Chicago was ranked fourth with $48 million, while WCBS-AM/New York made $47.5 million finished 5th

(2012) WTOP Leads The Billing Pack

For the third year in a row WTOP is the number one billing radio station in America. BIA/Kelsey reports that WTOP took in 64.6 million in 2012, up from $64 million in 2011. Clear Channel's CHR KIIS-FM in Los Angeles was number two at $56.8 million. Coming in third was WHTZ-FM in New York with $48.2 million, also a Clear Channel station.

(2016) WTOP Top Biller Again

Hubbard Radio's WTOP tops the list for the second year in a row, raking in $67.5 million in 2016, according to BIA/Kelsey. That's $2.5 million more than the station generated in 2015. WTOP has been the number one billing radio station in America for five of the last six years.

(2017) WTOP Does It Again

Hubbard Radio’s WTOP in Washington, DC, is once again radio's highest-billing radio station, taking in $67.8 million in 2017, according to BIA/Kelsey. That's three years running now for the all-news station. Hubbard Market Manager Joel Oxley tells Radio Ink he's very proud of his WTOP team.
