Connoisseur Brings Banks To Long Island

Michael Banks has been hired by Connoisseur as GSM for its Farmingdale, Long Island, cluster. He joins the Sales Management Team, consisting of GSM Paul Anthony and Digital SM Lisa Phillips. He'll report to Connoisseur Media Long Island’s Director of Sales Darren DiPrima. Banks' first day on the job was Tuesday, December 27.

KOIT Announces New Morning Team

Entercom's KOIT-FM in San Francisco has hired Nick Steele and Kristen Flowers to host morning drive. They begin Thursday, January 5, 2017 and replace Andrew Hart, who resigned earlier this month to pursue opportunities outside of radio.

Cancer Takes Life Of Townsquare PD

Longtime KRNA-FM/Cedar Rapids Brand Manager Gregg "Shark" Scharnau lost his 15-month battle with pancreatic cancer last week. He was only 49. Scharnau began his career at KDTH-AM/KATF-FM in his hometown of Dubuque and spent time on air in Princeton, Illinois before settling in at KRNA in the late 90s. A celebration of Scharnau's life will be held Wednesday.

Guy Gordon will host a new afternoon talk show from 3-5 p.m. on WJR in Detroit starting January 3. Gordon has been in TV news in Detroit for over 30 years. Gordon's show replaces The Michael Savage Show.

Johnny O’ Leaves Atlanta For Charleston

Johnny O’Leary segues from his roles as APD and PM Drive Host on Atlanta’s Q100/WWWQ-FM to join WSSX-FM in Charleston where he'll be PD and take an on-air shift. O'Leary spent nine years at Q100 in Atlanta. Prior to that, he was PD for New South Radio and was also Imaging Director for Q102 in Cincinnati.

Bomani Jones Signs New Contract With ESPN

ESPN has signed Bomani Jones to a multi-year extension. Jones, who joined ESPN full time in 2013, will continue to host The Right Time with Bomani Jones on ESPN Radio weekdays from 4-7 p.m. ET.

Curtis Booker gets the promotion from APD to PD at KZMG-FM in Boise. He's been with the station since 2016, also holding on-air shifts at both KZMG-FM and sister station KWYD-FM. Impact Radio Group owns seven stations in the Treasure Valley.

Williams To PD At Two Louisville Stations

Darrick Williams has been named PD for Urban WGZB and Urban A/C Magic WMJM, both in Louisville, both owned by Alpha Media. Williams has 20 years in the business, including DC, Charlotte, Philadelphia, and New York City. He's worked with the likes of Donnie Simpson, Wendy Williams, Steve Harvey, Jay Stevens, Tony Gray, and Skip Dillard.
