Martin Moves Up With iHeart
Derrick Martin is iHeart's new St. Louis Region President overseeing 33 radio stations. That puts Martin in charge of all of iHeart's brands in Des Moines, Cedar Rapids/Iowa City and Davenport, Iowa, and St. Louis and Springfield, Missouri. He'll report to Tom McConnell, President of the Midwest/Southeast Division for iHeartMedia.
Cumulus Has A New Memphis Manager
Morgan Bohannon is the new VP/Market Manager for Cumulus' four-station group in Memphis. He replaces Alan Kirshbom, who left four months ago to go back to Austin for family reasons. Bohannon joins Cumulus s from iHeartMedia where he was Area President in Memphis. Bohannon worked for iHeart and Clear Channel for over 20 years.
After Three Decades With Salem, Ruleman Retires
Salem's Washington, D.C. VP/GM David Ruleman is retiring at the end of June. In addition to his D.C. role, Ruleman has served for many years as a Regional VP of Operations with oversight of Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, and Boston. During his 31 years with Salem, Ruleman has provided operational oversight during the acquisition of more than of 20 stations in nine markets.
Kapugi Lands With iHeartMedia
He was let go by CBS Chicago in December. Monday, iHeartMedia hired Jeff Kapugi as Region Senior VP of Programming for Washington, D.C. and Baltimore. iHeartMedia’s Washington, D.C. Region includes HOT 99.5, 97.1 WASH-FM, DC101, 98.7 WMZQ, BIG 100 and Cherry Blossom Radio in D.C. and 93.1 WPOC, Z104.3, 102.7 JACK-FM in Baltimore.

Cox Media Group in Jacksonville has named Jacque’ Freeman Local Sales Manager. CMG Jacksonville includes News 104.5 WOKV, Hot 99.5, Easy 106.5 WHJX, 95.1 WAPE, The Eagle 96.9 WJGL, Power 106.1 WJGLHD2, and X102.9 WXXJ.
Judge Approves Treatment Program For Lisa Wells
This case has been going on for over a year. Wells appeared on WLW in Cincinnati as a legal analyst. In January 2016, troopers say she had pills on the front seat of her car and in her purse during a search at a traffic stop. She was later indicted on four felony counts of possession of amphetamines and Oxycodone.
Krauss Trades Cleveland For Milwaukee Mornings
It’s a homecoming for Milwaukee native Joe Krauss who joins B93.3 (WLDB-FM) as its new morning radio personality. Krauss, who will go by “Joe” on the air, started April 3 and will be heard Monday through Friday, 5:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. He comes to B93.3 from CBS Radio’s Q104 (WQAL-FM) in Cleveland.
Bob Kevoian: One Time Only
The Radio Hall of Famer came out of retirement for just four hours to guest host The Bob and Tom Show, which was in Cincinnati for the Reds Opening Day broadcast. The show was broadcast from JACK Casino in downtown Cincinnati, and hosted by longtime affiliate WOFX-FM.
Casey Carter Lands In Greenboro
Carter has been named Program Director for Q104.1, New Country in Greensboro-Winston Salem-High Point, effective April 17. She will work closely with on-air personalities and sales to oversee on-air, digital, and music programming, plus booking artist appearances and interviews for the station and its local events.
Warren “Rhubarb” Jones Dead at 65
Rodney Ho of The Atlanta Journal Constitution has the details of the passing of the Georgia Radio Hall of Famer. Ho reports that the former Y106 Atlanta host died of a heart attack yesterday. Jones worked mornings in that market from 1985 to 2008. (Picture courtesy Rodney Ho/AJC)
