Doug MacGunnigle Promoted To APD In Providence

Cumulus has promoted Producer and Digital Content Director Doug MacGunnigle to Assistant Program Director of NewsTalk 99.7 and AM 630 WPRO and AM 790/WPRV-AM in Providence, RI. MacGunnigle started at WPRO in 2002 as a weekend board operator, soon branching out to production and on-air duties on Hot 106 and 92 PRO FM.

Schnitt Out at WOR New York

iHeart Media confirms that Todd Schnitt is no longer with WOR-AM in New York. After nearly three years, Schnitt could not work out a new contract with WOR. The station thanked Schnitt for his contributions and wished him the best. A search is underway for a new co-host to join Len Berman.

Pittman Named Broadcaster Of The Year In New York

On Thursday afternoon, iHeartMedia CEO Bob Pittman accepted the Broadcaster of the Year award from the New York State Broadcasters Association in New York City. NYSBA President ​David Donovan said, “Bob Pittman is a true industry leader and perhaps the most creative, visionary, and dynamic executive in broadcasting."

WABC Adds Sunday Night Business Show

The show is called Go Big or Go Home, and it will be hosted by Tom Maoli. It's Maoli's first stab at broadcasting. Maoli is a successful New York-area business owner and real estate developer.

Abernethy To Run Denver For Entercom

That's because Amy Griesheimer is no longer with the company after 16 years in the Denver market. A nationwide search is underway for a replacement Market Manager in Denver. In July of 2015, Entercom named Doug Abernethy as VP/GM of its Miami cluster. He joined Entercom in April 2015 after 10 years as a Regional Vice President with Radio One. Entercom has four FMs and one AM in the Denver market.

Late Knick Radio Announcer To Be Honored

Fordham University Athletics will celebrate the life of New York Knicks analyst and alumnus John Andariese when he posthumously receives the Johnny Bach Award, Monday, October 30 in New York City. Andariese began as color analyst on Knicks broadcasts -- in a career that spanned four decades -- during the 1972-1973 season on radio, teaming with Marv Albert.

Two More Years For Joyner

As he signs a new two-year agreement with Reach Media, 2019 will be Tom Joyner's final year on the radio. From the press release: "Reach Media today announced a two-year agreement that extends the Tom Joyner Morning Show in radio syndication through December 31, 2019, as he culminates his trailblazing career."

Entercom Makes It Official In San Francisco

As Radio Ink reported last week, Steve DiNardo was let go from his post as Market Manager for Entercom San Francisco. He had been with Entercom since 2012 and held the position of Market Manager in San Francisco since 2014. Entercom confirmed on Monday that former CMG Orlando Market Manager Susan Larkin is now running the San Francisco cluster.

John Fitgerald Returns To ESPN Audio

His new title will be VP, Ad Sales. Fitzgerald has spent his entire 21-year career with the Walt Disney Company. He will oversee all aspects of ESPN Radio national network ad sales, including talk programming, event play-by-play, and Audio on Demand, which includes podcasts. 

Chris Wheat Dies At Age 66

Among his many accomplishments, the longtime radio manager helped turn WFBQ-FM in Indianapolis into a powerhouse. The Indianapolis Business Journal reports that Wheat died last Friday. He managed WFBQ from 1984-2006. He also managed sports-talker WNDE-AM and alternative rock station WOLT-FM for Clear Channel. He retired in 2015.
