WGN Extends Contract With “Mr. Fix It”

The new deal with Lou Manfredini runs through December 31, 2020. Manfredini began his career at WGN in 1995 as a guest on the Bob Collins Show when he was given the nickname “Mr. Fix It.” He continues to answer listeners’ home improvement questions on The Mr. Fix-It Show, which is the #1 Saturday morning radio program in Chicago.

Napa (#9), O'Reilly (#7), and AutoZone (#6) are now all in the Top 10 of the latest Media Monitors weekly run of radio ads. GEICO remains number one for the week of February 29, having run over 38,000 commercials. Burger King runs up to number two from 13th. The home of the Whopper aired just under 30,000 spots. Coming in third with 27,447 was McDonald's. And rounding out the top five were MetroPCS with 23,000 and H&R Block at 22,574.

Kelly Takes Over Afternoons At The Mix Houston

MIX 96.5 (KHMX-FM) in Houston will move Lauren Kelly to afternoon drive beginning Monday, March 21. Kelly currently holds down the midday slot. She's replaceing Chad Pitt, who recently joinined 101.9 AMP Radio in Orlando. Chris Jackson will fill the midday post and take over as Music Director and APD. Jackson will move to KHMX from KXTE-FM in Las Vegas.

The original dispute between NBN and Sheridan began when NBN claimed Sheridan failed to justify a "secret" methodology for allocating its parent’s corporate overhead to AURN, including a $500,000 annual “salary” of Ronald Davenport Sr (pictured). NBN also claimed Sheridan provided invoices to AURN six to eight weeks after the end of every month but forced AURN to pay at the beginning of each month, "thereby advancing itself funds before incurring any actual expenses for the coming month."
