WIBC’s Greg Garrison Retiring

Garrison is ending his weekday show on the Indianapolis News/Talker but the station says he'll write a weekly column on wibc.com, provide commentary, and serve as a legal expert for WIBC news and programs. Garrison hosts the 11 a.m.-1 p.m. timeslot and his last day will be June 9. PD David Wood said a replacement will be announced at a later date.

Nicola Merenda is the new VP/Market Manager for Cumulus' six-station group in Topeka. Merenda joins Cumulus from Pandora in San Antonio where he was also VP of Sales for Clear Channel. He also worked for Entercom as GSM in Mission, KS, and began his radio career in Chicago.

Jules Riley Takes Over The Bull In St. Louis

Riley is the new PD for the iHeartMedia station. She was the Ops Manager for iHeart's KVOO-FM in Tulsa before taking this new position. From 2005 until 2008, Riley was Program Director for WARH-FM and WMVN-FM in St. Louis, where she was named one of Radio Ink’s Best Program Directors in America in 2007.

Madden Staying With Cumulus

The company has signed Derek Madden to a long-term deal as PD of KXXR-FM in Minneapolis. Madden will also continue in his role as Corporate Programmer for the Rock and Alternative formats. He joined KXXR in March 2015. Prior to that, he was PD for KLOS-FM in Los Angeles, also a Cumulus station.

The reason for the apology was for putting callers on the air who were telling Polish jokes during Dyngus Day, which is very popular in Buffalo. The Dyngus Day website says it's an annual event in Buffalo, "is to celebrate spring, show Polish pride, flirt with pussy willows and listen to the best polka bands in the nation."

By running 25,806 commercials on radio stations all across the country, Mattress Firm was radio's sixth-largest advertiser last week according to Media Monitors. GEICO moved back to number one with 42,580 spots aired. The Home Depot (38,316), Lowe's (35,043), Boost Mobile (28,563), and McDonald's (27,006) round out the top five.
