Saga Ready to Buy More Stations
Fresh off the sale of its remaining TV stations and the purchase of 8 radio stations in Charleston, Hilton Head and Beaufort, SC, Saga is getting ready to announce even more radio station buys. CEO Ed Christian says he's been spending a lot of his time looking for stations.
Entercom Purchases 45% Stake In DGital Media
In addition to the investment (the amount was not disclosed), Entercom says it will provide DGital with "significant annual marketing and promotional support" across its radio platform, which at the moment includes 126 radio stations in 28 markets. DGital Media was launched in May of 2015 by former DialGlobal/Westwood One co-CEO's Spencer Brown and David Landau. There will be no management changes at DGital.
Emmis Signs Walsh Through 2019
The company awards Pat Walsh with a new deal through 2019 as Emmis' President and Chief Operating Officer. His base pay will be $625,000, with annual increases of up to 2.5%.
1,000 Stations File For FM Translators
Following the closing of the new auction window for FM translators, FCC Chairman Ajit Pai said over 1,000 stations applied. "These translators will enable many of these AM stations to broadcast local programming to their communities at night for the first time."
Lady La Hits The Airwaves In Phoenix
She’ll be on-air talent for iHeart stations Mix 96.9 and 104.7 KISS FM. Lady La previously worked as morning host for KALV-FM as well as for KKFR-FM. “It’s obvious to me that Phoenix wants Lady La back on the radio,” said Mat Mitchell, Program Director for 104.7 KISS FM and Mix 96.9.
Michigan Station Could Be In Trouble
If you only operate a radio station for one day a year are you really a radio station? On Thursday, the FCC took up the matter of WRAX-FM in Lake Isabella, Michigan which has filed for a license renewal. The problem is the Commission says the station only operated one day a year since it was initially licensed seven years ago. The station is owned by Radioactive (Randy Michaels).
Times-Shamrock Sells Four In Reno
Lazer Broadcasting is purchasing KWNZ-FM, KNEZ-FM, and KZTI FM, and Big Horn Media is buying KRZQ-FM from Times-Shamrock Communications. MVP Capital represented Times-Shamrock in both transactions.
Keegan Gets Programming VP Stripes
Marcia Keegan has been named vice president, national radio programming and production at ESPN Radio. She will oversee all talk programming content on the national network. She will retain responsibility for ESPN’s packaged show productions which handles approximately 1,000 hours of programming produced by outside vendors.
