As of October 2, Shawnda McNeal will be the new co-host of Idaho’s Morning Show on Country radio station KIZN Kissin’ 92.3 in Boise. McNeal will join co-host Cory Mikhals weekdays from 5:30-10 a.m. She will also do double-time on-air as the new midday host for the station

Former Greater Media CEO Peter Smyth was among the 2017 inductees recognized for life-long contributions to broadcasting, at the 2017 Massachusetts Broadcasters Hall of Fame induction luncheon. Smyth was on Radio Ink's 40 Most Powerful list for 15 years (2002-2016). He's pictured here with Beasley Media CEO Caroline Beasley who was #6 on our list in 2017.

Cox Media Group Atlanta Radio’s Condace Pressley, a Georgia Radio Hall of Fame Inductee and WSB Radio’s Manager of Program Operations and Community Affairs, was recently selected to the Atlanta Business League’s 2017 list of Atlanta’s Top 100 Black Women of Influence.

It’s a holiday season for the show, which aims to provide every active service member deployed outside the United States with a handwritten thank you letter on Thanksgiving Day. Since its inception in 2009, The Bert Show’s Big Thank You campaign has collected more than one million handwritten letters from the nation and beyond.

After attending eight previous CES events, the Jacobs brothers believed it was important that radio’s leaders get a glimpse of the future of technology, media, innovation, automotive and more. And they organized their first CES CEO tour. Based on last year’s success, Jacobs Media now has an expanded tour package for CES 2018.

According to an article in Bloomberg, critics say its because Apple doesn’t want to cannibalize its streaming service by giving iPhone owners access to free radio. When listening to audio through an app, and not the FM Chip, consumers have to pay for the data they use. If they were listening through an FM Chip already installed on the phone there would be no charge for data.

The pressure is now on Apple as at least one department of the government is publicly pushing the iPhone maker to activate FM chips that are already in those phones. FCC Chairman Ajit Pai says turning on the FM chips needs to be done to promote public safety and he's asking Apple CEO Tim Cook to "do the right thing."

Kurt Luchs is the Market Manager for NRG Media in Wausau-Stevens Point, Wisconsin. He's also been chosen as one of Radio Ink's Best Managers for 2017 and will be featured in the October 9 issue of Radio Ink Magazine. Luchs is responsible for four NRG FMs in his cluster and he leads about 30 NRG employees.
