ABC Radio will provide four three-hour specials to affiliates for use over Labor Day weekend: Rock and Roll Labor Day Salute (hosted by Johnny Van Zant), A Labor Day Salute to Country Kids (hosted by Little Big Town), America Works: Ten Years Since the Great Recession (hosted by ABC News Radio correspondent Aaron Katersky), and The 2018 Back to School Special (hosted by ABC News Radio correspondent Alex Stone).

That's according to a new blog posted by Westwood One's Senior Director for National & Local Insights Doug Hyde who says the podcasting ecosystem offers seemingly endless choices for news, information, opinions, entertainment, and storytelling.

Brian Harrington has been named General Sales Manager for WZRL (Hip Hop) and WNDE (Sports). Harrington joins the Indianapolis Market from Woof Boom Radio, where he most recently served as an Account Executive.

The Mentoring and Inspiring Women in Radio Group has named Mercedes Martinez — host of Mercedes in the Morning on KMXB Mix 94.1, Las Vegas — as the recipient of the 2018 MIW Airblazer Award. Martinez has worked in the Las Vegas market, and as a morning host on Mix 94.1, since 1997.

KKSE/Denver has appointed Dave Tepper as its new Program Director, beginning Wednesday. Tepper joins Altitude 950 following a successful stint as Operations Manager of NRG Media’s five-station cluster in Omaha.

WKYS/Washington, DC, (93.9 FM) is bringing back DJ Quicksilva as the host of the all-new Quicksilva Show. The afternoon show will air on both WKYS/93.9 and Quicksilva’s hometown of Baltimore (WERQ/92Q).
