And it all takes place at Emerson College in Boston. The Beasley Radio Talent Institute of the National Radio Talent System is designed as a talent incubator for aspiring broadcasters. It’s ten days long and includes everything about radio from on-air in music radio, sports, news, production, promotions, engineering, digital and social media and sales.

Joe Bilotta Passes at Age 69

EMF CEO Mike Novak Retiring

Mike Novak, CEO of Educational Media Foundation, announced Friday he will retire as CEO of the ministry that operates the K-LOVE and Air1 radio networks in the coming months. Novak and EMF’s Board of Directors say they have been working closely the past couple of years on the timing of his retirement.

SBS Says Nielsen is Attacking Hispanics

According to Spanish Broadcasting System, Nielsen notified the company earlier this week that big changes were being made regarding the weighting of Hispanic listeners in the Los Angeles market. The company says the changes - the removal of 4 panelists - will have a drastic impact on its ratings. SBS General Counsel Richard Lara called Nielsen's changes "unfair and discriminatory," and said the ratings firm was attacking U.S.- based Hispanics.

$5.1 Million Chicago Sale Closes

Bible Broadcasting Network closed on its $5.1 million purchase of WCPQ-FM, licensed to Park Forest, IL. WCLR Incorporated was the seller and Bob Heymann of Media Services Group was the broker. The sale was announced in March. WCPQ covers the southern suburbs of Chicago, Joliet, and Kankakee. BBN will carry a religious format, pushing out Polish and dance.
