Happy Friday! This week’s Radio Ink Blast From The Past comes from Jack Swart. Back in 1979 at WBNQ in Bloomington, IL, Swart was Program Director and clearly the best-dressed man in the building.
Behind him sits the station’s automation system, a wall of reel-to-reel machines and cart decks that was running the show at the time, but not for long. WBNQ was on its way to “live assist” and, eventually, fully live programming. Swart has spent more than four decades in the business since, and in May he was promoted to General Manager of River Radio’s Cape Girardeau, MO market.
