Hubbard Media That Connects has found the next leader of its Washington, DC operation in Amazon’s podcast division. Declan Moore will be the next President and Market Manager for WTOP, Federal News Network, and the 2060 Digital agency, succeeding Joel Oxley.
Moore joins Hubbard from Wondery, where he served as Head of International, leading strategy and expansion for its audio business across content, advertising, subscriptions and platform distribution. Before Wondery, he spent 23 years at National Geographic, holding roles including Chief Media Officer, President of Publishing and Digital Media for National Geographic Society, and Chief Executive Officer of National Geographic Partners.
Oxley, who will receive the NAB’s National Radio Award this October, announced his retirement in May after 35 years leading the market.
Hubbard CEO Ginny Hubbard said, “We are thrilled to welcome Declan…While he has very big shoes to fill following in the footsteps of Joel Oxley, Declan has a strong track record of retaining the essence and legacy of media brands while leading them into the future. He has made it clear that, as a consumer, he has tremendous respect and appreciation for WTOP/FNN and the important service they provide to the local community.”
Moore said, “I’m honored to have the opportunity to build on the extraordinary legacy Joel Oxley has created here in Washington…I’m energized by the opportunity to work with the talented teams here to build on those strengths and help these businesses continue to evolve and grow. I’m also enormously excited to join Ginny and the Hubbard leadership team, whose commitment to impartial, trusted journalism, strong local brands and long-term thinking really resonated with me throughout this process.”
