Mike Stern is trading a consultant’s seat at Jacobs Media for a programmer’s chair in Missouri. Zimmer Communications has chosen Stern to lead programming across its radio stations in Columbia, Jefferson City, and Springfield starting Monday, November 16.

Before joining Jacobs Media, Stern programmed radio stations in Chicago, Denver, Milwaukee, Detroit, Las Vegas, and Dayton, including a tenure as Emmis Communications Vice President of Programming in Chicago, where he oversaw Alternative Q101 (WKQX) and Classic Rock The Loop (WLUP).

Zimmer operates radio stations in Columbia, Jefferson City, and Springfield, MO.

Stern stated, “I couldn’t be more excited about the opportunity to join Zimmer Communications. I’ve consulted them for more than a decade, so I know it is a first-class radio operation that still believes in being local and connecting with listeners. I’d like to thank Carla Leible and Trevor Morgan for making this possible.”

Zimmer General Manager Carla Leible stated, “Mike is one of the most respected programming minds in our industry, and we’re incredibly fortunate to have him joining our team. Having worked with Mike for years through Jacobs Media, we know firsthand the experience, creativity, and leadership he brings. He understands our company, our culture, and our commitment to local radio. As Zimmer continues to grow, Mike will play an important role in strengthening our stations, developing our talent, and positioning us for continued success.”
