Lehigh Valley Station Gets Dominican-Focused Flip

The sister station to Allentown’s Mega 101.7 (WTKZ-AM) now has a new name. VP Broadcasting has rebranded Latina 106.5 into La Kalle 106.5 (WAEB-HD3), a Spanish-language station aimed squarely at Dominican listeners in the Lehigh Valley.

VP Broadcasting cited U.S. Census Bureau estimates and American Community Survey data showing Latino residents make up approximately 56% of Allentown’s population, 30% of Bethlehem’s, and 27% of Easton’s. Together, the three cities are home to more than 100,000 Latino residents.

La Kalle 106.5 is expected to serve listeners throughout Allentown, Bethlehem, Easton, and surrounding communities. The station will also provide opportunities for local businesses, community organizations, and cultural leaders to connect with Spanish-speaking audiences.

VP Broadcasting Owner Victor Martinez commented, “Launching La Kalle 106.5 is an important milestone for VP Broadcasting and for the Latino community in the Lehigh Valley. We want to create a station that feels familiar, relevant, and connected to the people we serve — especially our Dominican listeners. La Kalle will bring the energy, music, voices, and programming that our community enjoys from the Dominican Republic, while Mega 101.7 will continue its successful tradition of serving the broader Latino community.”
