After 13 Years, Music 1 and Aiir Go Separate Ways

Music 1 and Aiir are going their separate ways, with the two radio software companies ending their commercial relationship at the close of 2026. Music 1 Pro will keep integrating with Aiir’s PlayoutOne automation system for stations already using both.

The relationship dates to 2013, when Aiir founder Dave Brierley-Jones approached Music 1 creator Steve Warren about integrating Warren’s Music 1 scheduling software with the company’s DARP/NG radio automation system. The technical relationship grew, and in 2018 the companies began co-marketing their products, offering Music 1 alongside the newly named PlayoutOne automation system.

Active co-marketing wound down in 2024 as the two companies began moving in different business directions, though their subscription and product relationship continued.

With both companies now moving forward on separate scheduling platforms, they will conclude their remaining cross-billing and subscription arrangements at year’s end, after which each will manage its own product subscriptions directly. Music 1 Pro will continue to integrate with PlayoutOne, and the existing data and playlist exchange between the systems will remain in place for customers using both.

Warren said, “What is changing is the business arrangement behind our products—not the compatibility our customers depend upon. Now Aiir has developed its own scheduler, and we’ve taken Music 1 into a new generation with MusicOne Cloud. It’s a natural time for both companies to move forward independently. I wish everyone at Aiir continued success.”

Aiir CEO Ricki Lee told Radio Ink, “As our reseller terms with Music1 comes to an end, we have made it super easy for our clients to upgrade to Aiir Scheduler. We can import your existing data directly into Aiir Scheduler, meaning no extra work. We wish Steve the best with his new venture and partners.”
