Mac Edwards, VP and Market Manager of Beasley Media Group’s Charlotte cluster, will depart his role on September 4. Edwards first joined Beasley in 1991 as a talent and PD at WKML in Lumberton, NC. Five years later, he ascended to GM at WFLB and WAZZ-AM.
In 2001, he stepped up to a VP and Programming & Operations role before he was appointed VP and Market Manager of the Fayetteville, NC cluster in 2007.
Edwards left NC in 2016 to lead the company’s newly acquired Detroit cluster, which included WRIF, WCSX, and WMGC, later adding WDMK and Detroit Praise Network to the company’s Michigan portfolio. After six years, he relocated to Charlotte in 2022, where he currently leads K104.7 (WKQC), POWER 98 (WPEG), Country 103.7 (WSOC), V101.9 (WBAV), Kiss 95.1 (WNKS), and PLAYA 94.7.
Edwards has been recognized multiple times as a finalist for Radio Ink’s Radio Wayne Award for Best Manager and is a five-time recipient of the BMG Market Manager of the Year honor.
Edwards said, “Beasley Media Group has been such an important part of my life and career journey. I’ve had the privilege of working alongside some incredibly talented people, serving amazing communities, and helping grow iconic radio brands across the country. I’m thankful to the Beasley family, especially Brian Beasley, for bringing me to the company, our leadership team, our colleagues, and our partners for the opportunities, friendships, and memories over the past three decades.”
“While this departure is bittersweet, I’m looking forward to taking a moment to relax and spend time with my two very active grandsons, with a granddaughter on the way, before embracing new adventures ahead. I am deeply grateful to my amazing wife Angela and our three wonderful daughters for their constant encouragement, unwavering belief, and the strength they’ve provided throughout this amazing ride. Their support has meant everything to me.”
BMG Chief Operating Officer Brian Beasley said, “Thirty-five years ago, I had the privilege of recruiting Mac Edwards to join Beasley Media Group, and it remains one of the best decisions we’ve ever made. Throughout his remarkable career, Mac has been an outstanding leader, trusted colleague, and tremendous ambassador for our company. His passion for radio, commitment to excellence, and dedication to our teams and communities we serve have made a lasting impact across every market he has led. We are incredibly grateful for Mac’s many contributions and wish him continued happiness and success in this well-deserved next chapter.”
