Nearly half of Chicagoland families raising young children can’t afford enough diapers. Hubbard Radio’s 101.9 The Mix (WTMX) tackled that need this June, as The Morning Mix teamed with Huggies for a monthlong donation drive, netting 100,000 diapers donated.
Morning Mix hosts Chris Petlak, Nikki Chuminatto, and Whip invited listeners to stop by and donate diapers to families in need, with Huggies matching every gift. The diapers benefit Share Our Spare, a Chicago-based nonprofit that provides essential items to children ages 0 to 5.
Share Our Spare Executive Director S. Mayumi Grigsby said, “Diapers are such a simple thing, but for too many families in our city, they’re out of reach, and that gap can mean the difference between a child being able to attend daycare or a parent being able to go to work. Share Our Spare is proud to keep this partnership going because it shows what’s possible when the community decides no family should have to choose between a diaper and a meal.”
WTMX and WTBC VP of Brand and Content Chris Eagan said, “Local radio continues to be one of the most effective platforms for mobilizing communities and driving meaningful action. This campaign highlights the unique connection radio personalities have with their audiences and the trust listeners place in our brands. We’re grateful to our partners at Huggies, our Morning Mix team, and especially our listeners, who once again demonstrated the power of radio to inspire generosity and deliver tangible support to families throughout the Chicago area.”
