After 22 years, Country 103.7 (WSOC) morning institution Tanner in the Morning is coming to an end. Beasley Media Group confirmed that Rob Tanner, Catherine Lane, and Chris Allen will all depart the station, with their final broadcast set for June 19.
The trio, which made up the longest-running morning show in WSOC’s history, accumulated more than 18 ACM and CMA Award nominations across their run, with Lane alone claiming 17 nods and two ACM wins while also holding down middays for 27 years. Traffic reporter Captain Jim will remains with Beasley, providing morning traffic updates across the company’s Charlotte-market stations.
Additional programming details for the morning daypart have not yet been announced.
BMG Market Manager Mac Edwards commented, “They created a show that listeners welcomed into their homes, cars, and lives every morning,” Edwards said, noting the group’s impact “on the station, the market, and Country Music has been tremendous.”
Beasley Chief Content Officer Justin Chase called the team’s community bond rare. “Few morning shows create the kind of lasting connection and loyalty that this team built with listeners across the Carolinas,” he said.
WSOC PD Cameron Moore added, “What began as a radio show all those years ago has become a daily tradition shared with generations of listeners.”
For Lane, who grew up in Shelby, N.C. and spent four decades in the Charlotte market, the close carries both personal and professional weight. “I hope to do more work for suicide prevention in the future,” she said, “and I’m looking forward to seeing what else the good Lord has in store for me next.”
Tanner struck a similar note. “Charlotte and the Carolinas welcomed us like family, and I’ll always be grateful for the friendships, memories, and incredible experiences along the way.
