The Truth That Beats ‘We Can’t’

Each week, I usually write about sales for Radio Ink, but this week I wanted to write something more universal (that also applies to sales). It’s a short list this week, so we’ll go fast.

For years, I believed the saying you hear all the time. “It’s not what you know; it’s who you know.” But now I know the truth: “It’s not who you know, it’s who knows you.”  Concentrate on that and get better results in your life.

What about some more truth you can use anywhere in your life (and even in sales)? If you want to get anything from someone, find out what they need and give it to them. Do this over and over, and you won’t believe what they’ll give you.

But what about learning what you can use and what you can’t? When you hear someone say, “You can’t do that,” what they mean is ”they can’t do that.” That has nothing to do with you. You can. Make sure you do.

Give yourself a superpower: When anyone in your sphere of influence says “I can’t” or “You can’t” or “We can’t.” Stop them cold and ask them to change what they are doing to “How can we XYZ?” That keeps your brain working on the solution and we are all in the solution business.

Finally, “Once you have a radio station, you can get anything else you want.” Yeah, in 2026. If you believe something else, you’re in the wrong business.
