iHeartMedia Houston’s SportsTalk 790 (KBME) has launched The Morning Drive with Dan and Cole as its new local morning show. The show pairs local natives Dan Mathews and Cole Thompson for conversations on the Astros, Rockets, Texans, and college matchups.
Thompson has covered Houston sports for a decade, with prior experience in Austin and San Antonio. Over the past year on SportsTalk 790, he has produced The A-Team and hosted The Night Cap. Mathews began covering Houston sports in 2009 and later worked in Atlanta as a host, reporter, and play-by-play broadcaster before returning to Houston in 2023.
SportsTalk 790 Program Director Chris Gordy said, “We’re thrilled to add Cole to mornings, alongside Dan. Both guys eat, sleep, and breathe all things Houston sports, and bring a passion and enthusiasm to kick off each morning right.”
