Listeners of Atlantic Gateway Communications’ 91.9 WGTS donated 7,000 pounds of food during three collection events supporting local pantries impacted by the federal shutdown and reduced food benefits, as community organizations face growing assistance demand.

On October 30 and 31, WGTS collected over 5,000 pounds of food for Streetlight Community Outreach Ministries in Woodbridge, VA. Streetlight began immediately distributing donations to residents in need throughout the city. The food drive continued on November 4 in La Plata, MD, where listeners contributed another 2,000 pounds in just five hours.

WGTS plans to have additional events to help feed families across the Washington, DC, area.

Morning Show Host Jerry Woods said, “We are here to be the hands and heart of Jesus and help families in the communities we serve. And our listeners have given generously again through this Hands and Heart project, helping others and bringing hope and support with much-needed food.”

WGTS Lead Content Specialist Claude Jennings said, “So many people who are also affected by the shutdown themselves are giving to others. It shows the power of community, the gospel, and that good is still at work.”
