Former KRLA and KROQ Broadcaster Russ O’Hara Passes Away

Los Angeles radio personality Russ O’Hara has passed away. Born Russell Eugene Nealeigh, O’Hara did multiple stints at KRLA from 1969 to 1972, 1981 to 1982, and 1992 to 1993. News of his passing was first shared on social media. No cause of death was reported.

Beyond KRLA, O’Hara’s LA radio career included positions at KGFJ, KKDJ, KEZY, and KROQ. Outside of Southern California, he found additional work at stations in Tucson.

During his on-air tenure, O’Hara included Janis Joplin at the Hollywood Bowl, as well as performances by The Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix, and Three Dog Night. The personality also made an appearance in the 1994 film There Goes My Baby.
