BIN’s Coles To Represent Radio Among LABF Board Inductees

The Library of American Broadcasting Foundation has announced the addition of three new members to its Board of Directors: Tony Coles, Dr. Caroline Frick, and Leo MacCourtney. The LABF is the philanthropic arm of the Library of American Broadcasting. The Library houses an extensive collection of broadcast history at the University of Maryland.

Coles is President of Multi-Cultural Business and Development and President of iHeartMedia’s Black Information Network. He has more than 35 years experience in the radio industry, holding various leadership roles and is actively involved with several boards including the National Association of Broadcasters Leadership Foundation, the Radio Advertising Bureau, and Big Brothers Big Sisters of America.

Dr. Caroline Frick is an Associate Professor in the Radio-TV-Film Department at The University of Texas at Austin. She is the founder and Executive Director of the Texas Archive of the Moving Image. Dr. Frick has served in significant film preservation roles at Warner Bros., the Library of Congress, and the National Archives.

Leo MacCourtney is President of Katz Television Group. MacCourtney is also actively involved with the International Radio & Television Society Foundation and the Broadcasters Foundation of America.

Executive Committee members, including Heather Birks, Harry Jessell, Kathy Kirby, Jim Morley, Heidi Raphael, and Joyce Tudryn, were re-elected for two more years. Dennis Wharton also joined the Committee. Additionally, LABF board members Pierre Bouvard, Gary Chapman, Mary Collins, Mike Conway, Dave “Chachi” Denes, Erica Farber, Harry Jessell, David Kennedy, Dr. Judy Kuriansky, Brian Philips, Heidi Raphael, and Julie Talbott were elected to serve new three-year terms.

LABF co-chairs Heidi Raphael and Jack Goodman said, “We are absolutely thrilled to welcome Tony, Caroline, and Leo to the LABF Board of Directors. Their valuable insight and experience will help in our mission to preserve, protect and promote radio and television broadcasting’s incredible history.”
