Southwest Media Group has brought veteran broadcast executive Joel Burke to the Texas Panhandle as its new Market Manager. Burke now oversees the day-to-day activities of the group’s stations in Pampa, Borger, and Dumas.

Southwest Media Group’s portfolio in the Panhandle includes KGRO, KOMX, and KRWP in Pampa, KQTY in Borger, as well as KDDD-AM/FM in Dumas and Amarillo.

Burke has previous experience leading iHeartMedia Austin’s KVET and KASE, Bonneville Denver’s KYGO, and Audacy Memphis’ WRVR. Burke was also instrumental in elevating First Dallas Media’s KCBI to one of the nation’s top contemporary Christian radio stations over his eight years at the station.

Southwest Media Group owner Grant Merrill said, “I have known Joel by reputation for nearly two decades, having watched his success leading some of the country’s most famous broadcast brands. Anytime we can bring in someone with his credentials, it is an unbelievable victory for our company.”

“Joel has had offers from much bigger markets as of late, but has chosen to return to his roots in West Texas. He shares our small town, common sense values and you will hear that reflected on our airwaves.”
