Major League Soccer’s Sporting Kansas City has introduced its new radio broadcast team for the 2024 season: local talents Blake Aerni and Jon Kempin. Aerni and Kempin will lead play-by-play for Sporting KC’s 2024 matches starting February 23 on Sports Radio 810 (WHB-AM).

The duo will also host the club’s weekly Sporting KC Show, which previews the weekend’s matchups.

Kempin has played for several MLS clubs, including Sporting KC, LA Galaxy, Columbus Crew, and D.C. United. His career highlights include winning two MLS Cups and two US Open Cups. Kempin began his role as a radio analyst for Sporting KC during the 2023 season.

Aerni is a University of Nebraska-Lincoln graduate, where he honed his broadcasting skills. He has experience as a statistician, producer, and co-host for Sporting KC’s postgame show, and play-by-play announcer for multiple sports at Nebraska on KRNU. Most recently, he provided commentary for Rockhurst University soccer matches.

Fans can also stream the broadcast audio through the Sporting KC app or choose it as an option for home matches on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV. WHB has been the radio broadcast flagship for the club since 2011.
