Correspondent Carolyn Beeler has been raised to co-host of The World, joining forces with the program’s longtime host, Marco Werman. Beeler has been part of The World since 2015, overseeing the show’s environmental coverage.

Werman, who joined The World in 1995, has been the full-time host since 2013.

The World is public radio’s longest-standing daily global news program, produced by Boston-based GBH and PRX, and broadcast on 376 public radio stations in the United States and Canada. With Beeler’s promotion, the program hopes to enhance its storytelling capabilities, with the flexibility for both Beeler and Werman to report from various locations worldwide.

Executive Producer Dan Lothian said, “We’re delighted to have Carolyn Beeler in this new role as co-host for The World. She has been a longtime voice on The World, providing smart insights and clarity in her reporting about difficult situations, from Ukraine to climate change. She’ll work closely with Marco to ensure our audience continues to understand the world we live in today.”

Werman commented, “Carolyn is an exceptional journalist and has contributed significantly to The World since she joined the team in 2015. Her work on climate-related stories, including looking for solutions to this existential crisis, is impactful and brings significant value to our listeners. Having her as a co-host will be a gift for me and our audience.”

Carolyn Beeler added, “The World does international news like nobody else on public radio. I’m thrilled to work alongside Marco and our stellar team of producers in this new role.”
