Arkansas radio owner Bobby Caldwell is set to acquire multiple radio stations in the northeastern part of the state. Through his Bobby D. Caldwell Revocable Trust, the entrepreneur is set to acquire six stations for a total of $1.1 million from various companies owned by Harold Sudbury.

The acquisition includes Phoenix Broadcasting Group’s Hip Hop station K-Jam 93.9 KAMJ in Gosnell and Silent KQXF in Osceola, Sudbury Services’ Thunder Country 96.3 KHLS in Blytheville, and Newport Broadcasting Company’s silent stations KOKR, 860 KOSE-AM, and 1280 KNBY-AM in Newport and Wilson.

Caldwell has also fronted the money for the stations’ regulatory fees and pledged to reactivate the four silent properties before the deal closes. Harold Sudbury will retain ownership of Newport Broadcasting Company’s 104.9 KHPA and 1490 KXAR in Hope, AR, both of which went off the air in July due to storm damage.

Caldwell currently owns more than two dozen stations in Arkansas under different license-holding companies operating as East Arkansas Broadcasters. The broadcaster also runs statewide news, farm, and sports networks and has more acquisitions pending FCC approval.

This news comes around one week after Caldwell agreed to purchase KHGA in Earle, Arkansas for $250,000. The deal, facilitated by legal counsel Dan J. Alpert, includes the KHGA broadcast tower and a $5,000 deposit made by the current owner, Catherine Joanna Flinn Goodin of Flinn Broadcasting Corp.
