Bustos Media is adding an AM signal and its FM translator to its Tucson portfolio. The company filed an application with the FCC to acquire Classic Hits station The Drive (KDRI) from Tucson Radio, LLC. The Drive broadcasts at 101.7 and 830AM, and is the number two rated station in the market.

Both companies entered into a Management Agreement allowing Bustos to manage the station pending FCC approval. Bustos Media Tucson GM Patty Ruiz will oversee the combined stations effective April 1. KDRI will continue to operate from its downtown studio.

Bustos Media already owns The Voice (KVOI-AM), 106.3 The Groove (KTGV), Urbana 92.5 (KZLZ HD-2) and La Poderosa 105.3 (KZLZ).

“No other radio station cluster in Tucson will match Bustos’ new range and diversity of listeners,” said Fletcher McCusker, president and founder of Tucson Radio, LLC. “The combined audience will be the most representative of the Tucson market,” McCusker added.

KDRI Programmer Bobby Rich said, “I am happy to have driven this special format. The listener response has been nothing short of phenomenal. I am also happy to transfer The Drive to Bustos so it takes its proud place as the flagship of his radio group.”
