Max Media’s River Radio says it has hired Missouri native Whitney Thomas to serve as the morning show host at Cape Giradeau’s country station KEZS (102.9 FM, K103).

Thomas will host the Whitney in the Morning program weekdays from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. She takes over the morning time slot from Kent Crider, who hosted at the station for two decades.

“Her energy and her ability to connect with her audience stand out among the wide array of skills she brings to the table,” Glen Johnson, the program director at KEZS, said in a statement. “She’s a local talent with decades of experience that knows our community because she is an active member of it. She’s social media savvy, and if she were any more relatable, she’d be your sister.”

River Radio also promoted Rachel Cook to serve as the operations manager of the company’s station cluster in Gape Girardeau and Sikeston.

“Rachel’s commitment to local radio and the ever-changing multimedia world we work in will help to guide our stations’ programming efforts, while opening more doors for our clients to reach their marketing goals,” Mike Renick, the general manager at River Radio, said on Tuesday.
