The Bold Gold Media Group, Honesdale, PA celebrated 50 years of local radio by riding the rails. Lucky listeners, sponsors and community leaders got a ride on the historic Stourbridge Line Railroad.

Honesdale Pennsylvania, known as the “Birthplace of the American Railroad”, is located in Wayne County in the Northern Pocono Mountains.

To celebrate the 50th year of the very first radio station, 1590 WPSN-AM and the 40th anniversary of its second radio station, 95.3 WDNH-FM, hundreds of guests enjoyed a scenic ride through the Lackawaxen River Valley. WPSN is known as Wayne-Pike News Radio, and the call letters, WDNH, pays tribute to the famed D&H Railroad.

“It was a thrill to be able to pay homage to WDNH’s namesake, the D&H Railroad, by including it as the unique form of transportation to the anniversary party,” said Emily Grillo, GM. “Even on a chilly Friday night, loyal listeners, clients, friends and family reveled in the magical evening that we put together to celebrate our history and importance in our communities.”

“This gathering pays tribute to the iconic history of both broadcast radio and the railroad, and their enduring impact on Northeast Pennsylvania,” said Vince Benedetto, Bold Gold President.

The train stopped in White Mills, PA where the passengers were able to exit the train and celebrate the historic broadcast milestones with the entire Bold Gold Media team.

One lucky station listener won the grand prize, a 10-day cruise to the Caribbean in the “Rail To Sail” Radio Anniversary Contest!
