Townsquare Media Tuscaloosa and Northport, Alabama Mayor Bobby Herndon partnered up to raise funds and collect supplies to help the victims of the tornadoes that tore through Kentucky. Five U-Haul trailers were filled with supplies that were delivered to the disaster areas.
“It was a truly overwhelming response from Townsquare Media Tuscaloosa listeners, we filled one entire trailer in less than 3 hours,” said Director of Content DC Daniel. “It is amazing because some of the recipients of these relief supplies were here to help Tuscaloosa back in 2011 when tragedy struck here. This is a great lesson in the spirit of Christmas with the people of Tuscaloosa giving back to those in need and it’s good to know these donations went directly to the people of Clinton, Kentucky.”
Townsquare Media Tuscaloosa radio stations Alt 101.7, 95.3 The Bear, 105.1 The Block and 92.9 WTUG participated in the drive, broadcasting live from drop-off points and encouraging listeners to donate non-perishable goods to the effort.
“Townsquare Media’s always been such a big help getting the word out about these things,” said Herndon. “I appreciate them being here to help support this.”
