Reporter Vicki Adame has joined MPR News as the newsroom’s Report for America journalist, focusing on the coverage of Minnesota’s Latino communities.

Adame is a member of the 2021-2022 reporter corps with Report for America, a national service reporting program that places journalists nationally to meet an identified need in coverage. Adame will serve a one-year term in the MPR newsroom, beginning today, with an opportunity to continue for a second year.

MPR News was named a host newsroom with Report for America in December, stating in its application the goal of expanding coverage and building stronger relationships with Minnesota’s growing Latino communities. Adame’s beat will include coverage of Latino communities across the state, providing deeper representation of this fast-growing population. Adame will be based in St. Paul, with frequent statewide travel to reach Latino communities in both the Twin Cities and Greater Minnesota.

“I am thrilled to be joining MPR News as the reporter covering the Latino community throughout the state,” said Adame. “I hope to be able to tell the stories of Latinos in Minnesota and by doing so, bring about a better understanding of this vibrant and rapidly growing community. I look forward to meeting the leaders, business owners and everyday people and becoming a part of the community.”
