Townsquare’s New Jersey 101.5 (WKXW-FM) partnered with New Jersey Law Enforcement and Special Olympics New Jersey for the 27th annual Polar Bear Plunge this past weekend.

Approximately 100,000 spectators flooded the boardwalk as over 8,000 plungers braved the 37-degree waters of the Atlantic Ocean raising $2.5 million dollars to benefit more than 26,000 Special Olympics New Jersey athletes statewide.

New Jersey 101.5’s weekend personality Big Joe Henry has been a member of the Polar Bear Plunge committee for 25 years. Henry broadcast live from the plunge, interviewing Special Olympics athletes, event organizers, and local dignitaries. “It never ceases to amaze me the amount of support and funds raised for such a great cause. I’m thrilled to be part of New Jersey’s biggest charitable event.”
