At noon last Tuesday, Chubbs (pictured), co-host of Chubbs & Tara in the Morning on Top 40 station KHTT/Tulsa, OK, climbed up on the roof of the Griffin Communications Media Center and announced he wouldn’t return to the lobby level until the good citizens of Tulsa raised more than $60,000 for Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma for its “Food For Kids” program. And so the “Free Chubbs” campaign was launched.
Chubbs’ support team set up shop in the building’s visitor parking lot each day to accept donations from listeners and viewers. Just over 48 hours later, Chubbs reached — and surpassed — the stated $60,000 goal and was able to return safely to terra firma with help from the Tulsa Fire Department.
And the donations are still coming in.
