iHeart Charleston Scores $176K For Kids

iHeartMedia Charleston, South Carolina’s New Country WEZL, News station WSCC, and AC station WXLY, have revealed that the 12th annual Cares for Kids Radiothon raised over $176,000 to benefit Medical University of South Carolina Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital.

The two-day, live fundraising broadcast took place December 5 and 6, at the new MUSC Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital. The event featured on-air personalities Ric Rush, Brian Cleary, Kelly Golden, and Gary Goldman, and more than 40 inspiring stories from MUSC Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital patients and their families.

“We’ve anticipated this moment for 12 years – broadcasting from the brand new MUSC Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital,” said Alene Grevey, Area President for iHeartMedia Charleston. “Seeing this labor of love come to fruition thanks to the generosity of iHeartMedia Charleston’s listeners and advertisers is so inspiring.”
