Cox Tulsa Collects A Ton Of Trash

1

It can be scary to think how much trash gets dumped across the country. But Cox Media Group Tulsa, in partnership with Cox Enterprises, American Rivers, and River Parks Authority, made a pretty decent dent in it earlier this month. In the annual River Cleanup along the Arkansas River bank, 75 employees and volunteers collected an amazing one ton of trash.

The flooding across Green Country (Northeast Oklahoma) earlier this month made the effort more important than in previous years, as a lot of trash and debris got caught on the river bank after the water receded.

“We pulled out mattresses, ladders, tires – you name it,” says Cathy Gunther, CMG-Tulsa Market Vice President. “We collected more than 2,200 pounds of trash that is now headed to a landfill instead of polluting our streams and public parks. CMG-Tulsa is proud of this partnership and the impact it makes every year in Tulsa and our communities downstream.”

This October marked the fourth year of this environmentally focused effort for Cox Media Group Tulsa.

CMG Tulsa has consistently adopted green practices for its building.

  1. Good for you Cox Media Group!! The cleanup is a good public and community service. I wish every community would have the same program to clean up their community. Good work.
