USRN Serving Up More Spicy Carmen

United Stations Radio Networks has renewed its arrangement to distribute the daily comedic feature known as Carmen Calls, as well as its companion weekend day-part program, Sabado Picante. The multi-year agreement extends a relationship that began in 2004. Carmen started out at the legendary KMEL-FM in San Francisco, originally doing interviews on the morning show, but soon added so-called “prank calls” to her repertoire. Carmen partnered with United Stations in 2004 and began providing comedic content through the company to radio stations in Houston and San Francisco. Today, Carmen is a popular figure on the airwaves in New York, Philadelphia, Miami, Orlando, Providence, San Antonio, and many more cities.

Years after becoming a morning show mainstay, Carmen started providing a series of voiced work parts by which radio affiliates could also build a sixth morning show on the weekend around this wild character, and that content is marketed to radio stations under the banner of Sabado Picante, which translates as “Spicy Saturday.”

USRN’s Andy Denemark said, “Unique and entertaining content is the greatest thing we can provide to our affiliates, and in that regard, nothing tops Carmen. We are so happy to be extending our relationship with Carmen well into the future.” Carmen added, “This whole press release is a mouthful, but then so am I!”
