Cleveland station Star 102’s (WDOK-FM) 16th annual Rainbow Radiothon raised over $224,000 to benefit patients at University Hospitals Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital (UH Rainbow). The radiothon was broadcast live from the Trisha O’Brien Pavilion of UH Rainbow on Friday, December 7 from 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. ET. Over the last 15 years, Star 102 has raised over $4 million for UH Rainbow.

“Thank you Cleveland for making miracles happen for the children and their families at UH Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital,” said Tom Herschel, Senior Vice President and Market Manager, Entercom Cleveland. “I’m thrilled that we are able to showcase how much our community cares for this worthwhile cause.”

“We are extremely grateful to the entire community for helping us continue our mission of providing the very best care for children in our community,” said Debbie Lewis, Director of Strategic Community Initiatives, UH Rainbow. “Rainbow Radiothon is a special event and we are thrilled to raise critical funds to support the 740,000 patients we serve annually.”

The radiothon was hosted by Star 102 on-air personalities Jen Toohey and Tim Richards, co-hosts of the station’s morning show, The Jen & Tim Show.

Donations are still being accepted online via GiveToRainbow.org or text UHRAINBOW to 51555.

  1. Please note how many radio stations have conducted successful fund raisers this season. You do not see articles like this in the TV or newspaper trades. That’s because they can’t do it. Only RADIO has the rapport and authenticity with a listener to raise millions for the good causes. Millions. And if Radio can raise this kind of money Radio will never have trouble selling a Lexus.
