Kirk Minihane, who’s been one half of the Kirk and Callahan show for the past five years, has been off the air for several weeks after publicly announcing he’s been battling with depression. Entercom has decided to move Minihane to Radio.com and not bring him back to the all-sports station. Here’s what Entercom is saying about the change.
Entercom says Minihane will launch a new radio show, podcast, and column on RADIO.COM in January. Minihane will discuss more than sports on his new show, and have a co-host. Meanwhile. The WEEI-FM morning show will go on with Gerry Callahan and Mike “Mut” Mutnansky and stick to sports.
Minihane said, “I’m extremely excited to return to the air and reach a national audience, with greater autonomy to focus on a variety of topics, and even more digital platforms to connect with my fans. It’s been awesome to be part of WEEI and I know Gerry and Mut will continue to put on a great show. I want to thank the listeners for their patience and loyalty over the past several weeks, and I can’t wait to get started on RADIO.COM.”
