He was fired from SiriusXM in July of 2017, three years after his former radio partner Anthony Cumia was fired from the satellite company after going on a racist tirade on Twitter. On Wednesday, Westwood One announced it is launching a new podcast With Gregg “Opie” Hughes, one half of the former syndicated radio team, “Opie and Anthony.” The first podcast will be May 7.
Opie Radio will feature Opie hitting the streets and podcasting from surprise locations with his friends, including Carl Ruiz from the Food Network, comedians Vic Henley and Sherrod Small, and many more. Episodes will be released every Monday and Wednesday and will be available on Apple Podcasts, Google Play, WestwoodOnePodcasts.com, and the Westwood One Podcasts App.

Okay, I got a preview screener of this podcast, and I must say it’s by far the best podcast I’ve ever seen. This is going to huge! Right now Chip Chipperson might be the king of all media, but I assure you that this podcast is going to blow that piece of garbage podcast out of the water. Opie is by far the greatest and true LAST PROFESSIONAL BROADCASTER out there, and we are incredibly grateful that he is putting his life leisure on hold so that we can once against experience the best that radio/podcasting has to offer.

Opie is the epitome of a pilot fish. He owes all the millions he’s earned over the last two decades to other, more talented individuals. Him on his own is unlistenable, and I implore anyone with ears to stay away from this schlock.
