Carl Kasell, who was heard on National Public Radio programs for more than thirty years, died Tuesday from complications from Alzheimer’s disease. He was 84. Kasell joined NPR in 1975 as a part-time newscaster for “Weekend All Things Considered.” He was promoted to full-time newscaster on “Morning Edition” in 1979 where he worked until 2009. Kasell is a member of the National Radio Hall of Fame.
Didn’t know him but he had a soothing voice that carried authority and class.
