Illinois station 102.3 WXLC/Waukegan-Kenosha raised over $25,000 for St. Baldrick’s Foundation — which benefits childhood cancer research — during their annual Hair for Hope event, March 25, 12-5 p.m. at the Green Town Tavern in Waukegan.

Lisa Tyler from the WXLC morning show, and her producer Tommy B., broadcasted live from the event. Tommy B. raised funds by volunteering to shave his head. The fundraiser also held a 50/50 raffle and various prize giveaways including a trip to Disney World, a pair of tickets to see Hamilton The Musical in Chicago, and an iPad Air.

WXLC Program Director Haynes Johns said, “This is a great example of how being live and local and bringing the community together helps make a positive difference with St. Baldrick’s childhood cancer research. Tommy B., our Team Captain, did an amazing job leading our charge to victory.”
