New York Radio Great Lou Adler Dies

The death of Adler was reported by WCBS 880-AM in New York, where Adler started his career in 1959 and served as News Director from 1973 until 1981. The station posted this statement: “Perhaps poetically, Lou Adler passed away this morning at the age of 88. He was as responsible as anyone for making that number — 88 — legendary on the radio dial.” Adler passed away at a nursing home. He had Alzheimer’s disease.

  1. Worth mentioning Paul Simon’s nod to Adler’s influence in one of his songs turning his name into a verb: “I’ve been Lou Adler-ed and Barry Sadler-ed…” Funny i can’t remember the rest of the song or its name.
