Kids Of Incarcerated Not Forgotten

SOS Radio hosted a special Christmas party for children with incarcerated parents in Las Vegas. It was a partnership with HopeForPrisoners.org which helps men and women coming out of prison re-enter society. The stats show children with incarcerated parents have a higher probability of going to prison themselves unless there’s intervention in that family cycle.

The Hope for Prisoners Christmas party gave 20 different families a personal living room Christmas experience, complete with gifts, stockings, and a catered meal by Las Vegas chefs. The team decorated Nevada Department of Corrections Casa Grande Prison Center with 20 individual living room settings. Many of the inmates had the opportunity to surprise their children in person at the party and share hugs and gifts! Here’s a few of the powerful pictures! (Photo credit to Jackie Kimura)

Nevada Department of Corrections Director Jim Dzurenda shared with SOS Radio’s morning show host Scott Herrold how the State of Nevada has shifted its entire vision for rehabilitation over the last two years here. Listen HERE.
