Three More Pirates Put On Notice

Two in Queens and one near Boston were nabbed by the Commission. Ignace Jean-Charles of Mattapan, Massachusetts, Efrain Lanchi Ortega from Queens, and Migui Mora also from Queens were put on notice that they have 10 days to shut down the pirate radio stations they were operating and respond to the FCC. Here are all the details.

Ignace Jean-Charles of Mattapan, Massachusetts was cited for operating an illegal station on August 17, 2017, September 19, 2017, and September 20, 2017, when agents from the Boston office responded to a complaint of an unlicensed FM station operating on the frequency 106.3 MHz in Boston. Agents confirmed by direction-finding techniques that radio signals on frequency 106.3 MHz were emanating from a residential property on Wellington Hill Street, Mattapan, Massachusetts. The Boston office investigated and determined Jean-Charles was the owner or operator of the FM broadcast station on 106.3 MHz in Mattapan.

Queens resident Efrain Lanchi Ortega is cited for operating a station at 95.9 from 35-20 97 th Street, Queens, New York. Agents heard the radio station identify itself as “Radio Xplosion Hits 95.9 FM.” Through investigation, the FCC determined that Ortega was the operator of the station.

Migui Mora, also of Queens, is accused of operating a pirate station in October 2017 at 91.3 from 41-07 95th Street in Queens, New York. Agents heard the radio station identify itself as “La Bakana FM.” Through investigation, the FCC determined Mora was the operator of the station.
