Several major print publications posted stories Tuesday about The FCC eliminating the Main Studio Rule. The approach they took was to say that the rule’s intent was to keep radio and TV local, and that is now gone. We’ve picked a few of their stories for you to review…

The Washington Post titled its story: “The FCC just ended a decades-old rule designed to keep TV and radio under local control.” This story was pretty amazing because it said, “Known as the “main studio rule,” the regulation ensured that residents of a community could have a say in their local broadcast station’s operations.” When was the last time a listener walked into a studio, voiced his or her opinion about a format and that station made the change accordingly. From The Los Angeles Times, the changes could “prompt large media titans to take over small, local TV and radio stations, turning them into megaphones blasting content developed for a national audience rather than a local one, according to critics.” Read the L.A. Times story HERE

And The Daily Beast headlines its story: “FCC Scraps Rule Aimed at Keeping TV, Radio Local.” Read it HERE.
