In a fantastic effort, Spanish media in the city organized a fundraiser for earthquake-stricken Mexico in one day – and $11,400 was raised in a single afternoon on Friday. The radio groups involved were Lotus Broadcasting, Lazer Broadcasting, and Entravision. They were joined by TV groups Univision, Estrella TV, and Telemundo. Donations can still be made HERE.

Nearly 300 people have died since the 7.1 magnitude quake hit near Mexico City Tuesday.
